In December of 2020, while we were all still trying to figure out how to live through the pandemic, chicken chain KFC and PC component manufacturer Cooler Master teamed up to create the KFConsole. It was a tongue-in-cheek video game console (really just a computer) with a heated compartment for players to keep their chicken within. The idea was for players to keep their KFC chicken warm so they could continue putting their greasy fingers on their controllers for hours at a time. Inspired by the KFConsole, Ohsqueezy built a console with an integrated oven for cooking chicken nuggets. TFT LCD PANEL

Unlike the KFConsole, which was only intended to keep chicken warm, this Playzing console can actually cook things. That's because it is an entire toaster oven (from Dash) with the console slapped on. That Dash toaster oven costs less than $25 and actually looks pretty nice. It is very small and basic, but is enough for heating up chicken nuggets or hot pockets. With the console attached, Ohsqueezy can bring this to gaming events and charge hungry gamers obscene markups on chicken nuggets. Those gamers can then play some fun arcade games while they wait for their nuggies to heat up.

The console is a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ paired with an Eviciv 5" 800x480 LCD screen. The gamepad is a simple DIY job with two buttons on a breadboard, which connects to the Raspberry Pi through the GPIO pins. At this time, there is only one game available: iBitFit. But we're positive that we'll see more games as Playzing gains mainstream popularity. At bootup, the Raspberry Pi launches that game automatically, so there is not need for any controls other than that DIY gamepad.

Ohsqueezy mounted the console on top of the Dash toaster oven using two blocks of wood. Wood was a good choice, as it prevents heat from traveling through the toaster oven's enclosure to the consolevia conduction. They're spaced far enough apart that convection heat doesn't seem to harm the electronics.

Playzing may lack the polish of the KFConsole, but it is a hit at gaming events and puts some money in Ohsqueezy's pocket.
